Blackout/DNS service problem seems to be still live and well. Does anybody know if there is a way around it? Other than that app works very well, quality is just amazing.

Additionally, if there is not currently a way around this issue, is there something that could be done to allow this function sometime in the future or will this never be a part of the amazing app.
The add on is amazing and thanks for all the hard work that you guys put into it! My fire TV and I really appreciate it!
Update 2016.2.9 Released
- Another attempt to fix usage errors
Finally seems like the NHL publisher backend starts to work ok: was able to watch a full game 720 @60fps with no buffering. Amazing!

Thank you so much for your efforts, erack. Highly appreciated!

I'm hoping someone can help me with my odd issue... I am running Kodi on my new Sony Android TV. Pretty much the same experience I have on a dedicated Open Elec box in another room, with one difference. This NHL app, and the timewasted app before that, if I run them at max quality, while the picture is perfect, it stutters. Once a second or so, there's a slight pause in the picture for a microsecond or so. Enough to be annoying for sure. If I lower the quality setting down a notch, the stutter goes away, but of course so does the quality.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the same stutter with this app, and if you have found a solution. I've got plenty of other add-ons, and the stutter is only present with erack or timewasted's NHL streaming apps.

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Under Settings > Video > Accelaration make sure to disable libstagefright acceleration and leave mediacodec enabled. This is what works for my fire tv (Android).

Sorry for the little off-topic here. Just wanted to quote your reply since there's proof that at least someone can access 60fps streams.

My question for god is: Could it be possible, that for the time being, NHL/MLB has blocked 60fps streams from Europe? I have successfully watched multiple games via ATV, PC/Web and PC/Kodi, and none of these games were streamed with 60fps. And no, it's not a local bandwidth problem. As this plugin started working for me, I also tested with a monitoring tool for bandwidth usage and noticed, that there's no difference between 3000 and 5000kbps streams. That kind of felt another Bettman's bitchslap to my face..

Nevertheless, thanks erack and thanks the community.

The new version might have done the trick! I just watched bits of about 6 games from different days and no problem. I hope others can report the same result. A question for you, eracknaphobia: Is libstagefright only in the Windows version? In the Linux version of Kodi I find only vdpau and vaapi. Thanks again for all of this.

I think I might have stumbled onto the reason for this.

I watched a stream yesterday and the 5mbits worked perfect.

The difference was the CDN in use

the normal one which is crap btw only location seems to be in LA
hlslive-l3c.med2.med.nhl.com

And this was the akamai one
hlslive-akc.med2.med.nhl.com

Not sure if this is offical etc.. but both appear to be getting content from the same place.

It's really annoying me so much here in Australia that I'm thinking of setting up a virtual host for the other address and just redirecting requests to the other one. But being an addon it would be easy to code this in.
eracknaphobia do you have older versions of you NHL.TV addon available for download? The reason I ask is this morning I got your repo with the NHL.TV addon version before this last update of 2016.2.9 and it was working fine. With this last update, the addon won't even start.
I would post a error log dump, but that is not working right now. Tnx Pete

Never mind think I found them

Yes got it, its back working

Great addon by the way

I noticed this yesterday as well (also in Australia)

I tried editing my hosts file to point the l3c one to akc and the content takes some time to get mirrored to akamai. For instance the Caps game from two days ago was on the akamai server but the Pens game from last night was not.

As far as I can tell they take a day or so to get to the hlslive-akc layer.

I'm getting frustrated - every time there is a new release I am hoping that, some way, it will start working. Nope. I can play the highlights and recap, but any full game doesn't load at all. I'm at a loss and hoping someone can help. I am running 14.1 on 1st gen Fire TV.

Is it due to the version of Kodi?
I changed my DNS servers to the google public one due to some people having issues with using others.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
Timewasted version doesn't work either since the re-branded nhl.tv took over Feb 1st. Before that, everything was flawless with the Timewasted version.

Anyone have ideas what could be wrong?

You can't edit your hosts file as the Host: header won't match. You need to generate a 301 redirect from one to the other using a web server. But because both hosts get content from the same source it will work live content. The only thing that will stop it is if the CDN is removed at some point as it may have only been an experiment.

here is 2 curl requests for headers off both hosts for the same file note the X-* headers are the same which the source is the same.

5000k is 720@60fps. The web browser doesn't support this, I can't speak for ATV but the kodi addon most certainly does. Press the "O" key when watching a 5000k stream you will see fr: 59.94 which is the frame rate or frames per second. Also the Mb/s shows how much bandwidth is being used.

Image

The 5000k streams and the 3000k are both 720x1280 resolution. The only difference is the 3000k stream runs at 30fps which should be pretty noticeable with a fast paced game like hockey.

Also note that only Home, Away, French and National streams can run at 5000k. Multi-Cam and Multi-Angle streams can only go up to 3000k

libstagefright is only for the Android version of Kodi.

Full games are the only ones that require a login to work.

- Doubtful it's the kodi version although you should update if at all possible.
- At this point you need to find out where the problem is, it's probably not the addon. Sounds like a router mis-configuration might be at work here. If possible, plug your fire tv directly into your modem. Once you have internet try running the addon.

Didn't look back in the thread but are you logging in with your email addresss?

All the logins must be email address now.
Well...ya know what? I upgraded Kodi, and it's working now. Odd....or maybe not.
You fixed it for me!!!! Yay! Tried everything, dns, no dns, hot spots, different routers, none of it worked. Whatever you did fixed it. Thanks a million! PS I'm a Rogers user.
