Hello,

I have been given the last warning from my 'home' minister that I need to clean up my act and all the wires etc. behind the TV. I've been thinking about putting all of the components into a cabinet locked away and use some method to get them connected to the TV and of course use remotes.

I have a Samsung DVD player (with surround sound system), PS4, a PC running OpenElec Kodi, a Virgin Media Tivo and a sky box. Each has their own remote while PC is using one of the generic MCE remotes (like this).

Ultimate goal is to have the minimum number of cables going to the TV from the media cabinet and also reduce the number of remote controls. I've been looking at Logitech Harmony 650 Remote for this but not sure if it is overkill for this or not enough.

Also, what would you recommend for blasting IR so that I only use one remote into my blind media cabinet? Lastly, do you use HDMI switchers? Are they any good for consolidating the number of wires going to your TV? Any particular ones are better than the other ones? Perhaps they work with Harmony remote control?

Distance between the TV and the media cabinet is around 10-12 feet straight line; Probably 20 if going around corners etc.

Thank you.
Sounds easy enough. Especially with a run like that. I would be more concerned with the heat jn whatever cabinet you will be storing the components.
i've been doing some research on this myself as I am moving soon.

Do you know if that HDMI switch's remote can be replaced with a Harmony? I rather now add another remote if possible.
