I am admittedly a non-techie. I had just purchase an LG ultra 4K HDTV. I attempted to download Kodi using the TV's webOSTV site, but quite honestly I don't know what version (OS) I'm supposed to use. I had Kodi installed on a different TV (when I lived in another state) using a raspberry pi unit and used Yatse for the remote control. The raspberry pi was a plug and play and the Yatse worked automaticallyon my smartphone (Android) after install. After the failed attempt of getting Kodi directly from my TV'sweb site, I plugged the raspberry pi unit into my HDMI slot and while the Kodi home page did come up, I could not do anything. The TV remote didn't work and neither did Yatse from my smart phone. The Yatse (AppleTV) remote was saying I am offline and therefore wouldn't work. What can I do to get Kodi and a remote to work? Thanks to all who can assist.
If you want to use the TVs remote for your RPI, you have to use CEC. The RPI is CEC capable and you have to enable CEC support on your TV. For LG TVs it´s called "SimpLink".

If you want to use Yatse as a remote, you should search for a new client inside Yatse settings. Maybe the IP of your RPI has changed and it can´t find the host (the RPI in this case). So search for a new client and see how far you can get.
