Hello,

I looked around on the forum and tried a lot of things without success.

I encountered my first x265 hevc file. The file is about 4Go for a 2h movie.

I have loads of lag and stuttering when watching it with Kodi. When looking the stats with the 'o' key I see that the cpu is not going higher that 20%.

Hardware used:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K (3.5 GHz)
CM: MSI Z87I GAMING AC
RAM: 16go ddr3
CG: MSI GeForce GTX 760 GAMING ITX 2GB

Software:
Windows 10 PRO x64
Kodi 15.1 and then upgraded to Kodi 15.2

I tried reading the same file with VLC and it's running perfectly smooth so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I tried the settings in this post without noticing any change.

Do you think it's worth a try to test Kodi 16 beta?

Or maybe should I try to wipe my Kodi settings? (I don't really want to but if it may work why not)

Thanks in advance for your time, and happy new year everyone Big Grin
The Beta of Kodi is close to release, but I don't think it will help your situation. The only real difference between VLC and Kodi (basically using the same code in the player) is that Kodi has hardware acceleration turned on by default, while VLC is software by default. Try turning off the hardware acceleration, and watch those CPU usage stats climb.
Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

I was not aware of this difference between VLC and Kodi.

I disable this option:
Allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2

And everything is now running smooth as silk.

Thanks a lot I'm now ready for this new codec =)
