Hi guys. I have spent way more time than I care to admit trying to figure out how to update kodi on our M8S+ set top boxes without uninstalling and reinstalling so that we can keep our settings and libraries in tact. I've tried backing up and restoring everything and uninstalling and reinstalling but I always seem to lose a bunch of data . If anyone could help I'd be eternally grateful!

if there is no update button in playStore, then you're likely not running an offical version of Kodi but some custom build by the box vendor. Updating to a stock Kodi version won't have the modifications done by the box vendor, so if you need those modifications, ask the box vendor for a new version of his custom build (which he would have to rebrand in first place to comply by the trademark rules).
