I'm using 16.0 final on my Shield with an Onkyo TX-NR626 receiver.

Is it a known issue that if you enable passthrough and possible also because of stereo upmix and try to change volume with the Shield remote it makes this horrible noise? If you do the same with Netflix (and the source is 5.1), you just get a notification that you need to change the volume on the receiver instead.

Yes it's know and just don't change the volume.

That's easy in theory but not in practice..

then disable passthrough

Shield Volume Mode should be set to Fixed.
