Full Version: Jarvis - Still No Fix for Album Art in Music Playlists

Love Kodi. Have been using for a long time now. My only ever gripe has been that it displays the wrong album art when using music playlists.

Kodi shows the correct embedded album art when playing music from the song list, but as soon as you play music through a playlist the album art that is displayed is not the embedded album art. This seems crazy. No idea why this has never been fixed!

Would be grateful if anyone knows of a setting somewhere that can correct this.
This must have something to do with the fact that you use embedded art. On my system, each album's folder contains a "cover.jpg" file, which is displayed whenever a song from that folder is playing, whether in a playlist or not.
Yep check your tagging.
Thanks for responding guys. I understand the system of putting the cover.jpg file in each album folder, but I always found that approach a bit messy which is why I opted for embedded art.

Like I say Kodi shows all embedded art fine when playing music from the songs list, so it is reading it. Only when playing music using a playlist does it decide to get art from somewhere else.

Every other media player on the planet (and believe me I've tried most) reads my embedded art regardless of how it is played. Just Kodi that won't play ball. There must be some way to tell it to behave the same way it does when playing music from the songs list.
p.s. it doesn't happen for all files. It seems to happen when there are songs from different albums in the same folder.

If there is only one song in the artist folder, it quite happily reads the embedded art.

However, if in the artist folder there are two songs from different albums then the embedded art is ignored and usually some low quality art is displayed from somewhere else.

But again, this is only an issue in playlists. Not a problem playing from songs list, artist list etc.

My brain is melting with this.

I refer to a previous post below where the user had no luck getting the issue resolved

You might also want to look at the following couple of posts, not exactly your situation but I still find it incomprehensible that the artwork for the currently playing track is not displayed by default in music playlists

I think I have a solution for you.

Go to Settings / Player / Music /  Queue songs on selection and enable it.
