Is there a chance to select the servers like NHL.tv?

Probably a good chance. I'll do some digging.
is anyone able to get the 5000 stream to work without buffering issues? i can't for the life of me get this working without having it stop every half inning to buffer at least once if not more...i have a 75/75 fios connection and a 450mbps wifi connection to my fire stick and it just won't work without buffering all the time. anyone have any ideas? do i need to hook up a raspberry pi and run kodi that way to get this to work?

edit: watching right now on roku, and it's very clearly the 60fps stream running without issues...so i definitely seem to have enough bandwidth.
From my experience fire sticks just can't handle the 60fps feeds. I've only owned a first gen fire stick, so maybe they're better now but I don't currently have one to test that theory against.

fair enough...maybe i'll run to best buy later and see if i can find a second gen to test with (the one i've been using is in fact a first gen, so that would mesh with what you're seeing). should i be ok as far as buffering goes if i hook up a pi and run kodi that way?

interesting note, the 60fps feeds seem to run fine if i play an archived game...even on my first gen fire stick. it's only 60fps live that is having issues...is it possible to increase the size of the buffer on the live feeds?

Is there a way to get 1080p? All of the streams seem to top out at 720p60, even at 5000kbps.

No, because MLB.tv only provides up to 720p. It's "HD" technically. If they provided 1080p it would then be called "Full HD".

kk. Google turns up mentions of mlb.tv offering 1080p to "certain devices" beginning a couple of years ago so I wasn't sure if they just bailed on that or what.

alright, i've just tested this on a 2.5ghz dual core macbook pro, and it's still doing the buffering thing all the time. this computer should definitely, obviously, be able to handle this...and it isn't. any other ideas what could be causing this?
I had terrible buffering while watching the Cubs/Cardinals archive last night on my pc with Kodi 16.1 and 7-28-16 version of the addon.. The issue was resolved by performing all the steps on this page to clear the DNS cache.

I have a 2nd Gen Firestick and the feed is good on the MLB TV App and even better in your Kodi Addon on 17.1 I had issues of Kodi Force closing earlier in the spring but in reading some of the posts here it looks like you fixed that. I have zero buffering running on wifi with about 40-45 Mbps. Yes the 2nd Gen has a faster processing speed
I'm running on a Nvidia shield and having buffering issues on a 50mbps connection. I have very few last year. I'm also getting an issue where the game just quits and goes back to the "today's games " menu without and error messages or anything

running the 5k feeds? i obviously have something strange going on then considering i can't even get them to play solidly for more than a few minutes without buffering on my macbook pro...it seems every half inning or so the buffer runs out for some reason. sometimes more often, sometimes less often, but i can't get more than an inning or so without a buffering issue. it seems to happen especially often during commercial breaks, but that might be coincidental...

i wonder if there's a way to flush it for os x and/or android...

When my Pi was using wifi I had terrible buffering issues, even though it was less than 10 feet from the router. Switching to a wired connection virtually eliminated any buffering.
Looks like this buffering may be chalked up to CDN. From what I'm seeing, the Akami feeds play fine but the Level 3 streams buffer like crazy. This would also line up with some people having terrible buffering and others having virtually none. At least this is a good place to start, we will see what sticks. I should have an update out by tomorrow afternoon.
