clearly i spoke too soon...the first 2+ innings of the mets game tonight were perfect, now it's pretty much unwatchable.
Not sure this will help anyone but I was getting errors trying to watch streams, nothing would play. I deleted the addons userdata folder, re-entered my login info and it worked. Streams are a bit glitchy at times but I dont think thats an addon issue, I would guess its on the mlb.tv end somehow.
The mlb app is far worse than the addon. The app won't stay at 60fps keeps shifting back and forth, i'll take the addon any day of the week over the app. Mlb needs to get their shit together.
Is there any way to turn off the adverts and video clips during breaks in play? They completely ruin the stream requiring a restart! Thanks
EDIT: Just reinstalled using Erackno's latest version and seems to have done the trick. What a beautiful person he /she is. Thanks.
The live streams are working flawlessly for me using Akami however highlights are not working with either Akami, Level 3 or no preference. 90% of the time I get unable to play stream which the log shows as a demuxer error then about 10% of the time it starts playing then will buffer for 30 seconds or so and play very choppy. Again live streams play fine so it doesn't appear to be a connection issue. Any help with the highlights would be appreciated.
Tonight's game is the first I haven't been able to connect to at all. It's not a blackout issue.
How does one go about watching the facebook games either through the app or addon, I was getting blacked out with both. Would you use a vpn for the home or away?
the facebook games you have to watch through facebook. there's no way around those blackouts that i've seen...i tried both my regular smart dns and a vpn to a few different countries...nothing worked.
I'm in the UK and got blacked out for the Facebook game last night. Disappointing. Especially if you despise Facebook like me.
You can cast the Facebook games to Chromecast from desktop Chrome. Still have to log in to Facebook, but you can leave all the clutter behind.

Or mlbv?

Curious if they would show any different behavior than Kodi, in terms of buffering. They just use the "streamlink" utility to get the video and either write it to disk or send it to your player of choice (i.e. VLC).
I hadn't heard of these. I installed mlbstreamer and it works great for me, haven't had any buffering. But I don't usually get any buffering with the kodi addon either. The only difference is the kodi addon takes about 20-25 seconds to start playing a stream, whereas with mlbstreamer and mpv it starts up in 2-3 seconds.

i'm guessing there's not any way to use either of these (or port either one) to kodi or for use on the fire stick?
I can't get mlb.tv to download from the Kodi add on repository or from eracknaphobia zip. I'm using Kodi 17.

Actually, one of them (mlbv) is admittedly based on the Kodi addon. Basically just does the same Python stuff, but on the command line where it can write the video to a file or pipe it to your video player of choice. I don't think the command line ones do any CDN stuff, I guess.
You could actually do something similar with the Kodi addon by adding an external video player, like VLC. Not sure if it would help performance, but maybe some players would buffer better or more gracefully? But perhaps you can't do external Kodi players on Fire Stick anyway, I have never tried.
