Full Version: [SOLVED] Kore can't find Kodi unless Kodi's "public" firewall permission is enabled.

- Kodi 16.0 RC1 (retained settings from previous beta 5)
- Kodi installed on Windows 10 64bit (latest system updates installed)
- Kore (by XBMC) installed on Android Zenfone2 (latest system updates installed)
- Mbam updated to latest.

The wireless router's connected to my ISP's modem, PC plugged into wireless router, and Zenfone using that wireless router's wifi. (Both work perfectly on their own.)

I've been trying to get Kore to work as a remote for Kodi on PC for a few hours now with not much success.
Followed the official setup steps, and then a couple online tutorials (listed below):

Thought it was a firewall problem, so I went to the default WIndows Firewall > Allowed apps section to check stuff (not sure exactly what...).
In there are 2 separate entries for Kodi, 1 with only "private" enabled, 1 with only "public" enabled.

The entry with "public" enabled was disabled by default. Enabling it allows Kore to find the Kodi Media center.

Is this normal/required?
Seems strange to me I have to enable public permissions so my android, on the same network, can find kodi.

Many thanks in advance for any clarification.
Never mind. It seems the cause of my PC being undetectable was because it was on a public network and the Ethernet setting "Make this PC discoverable" was set to "Off". Setting it to "On" Kore immediately found Kodi on PC without the public firewall permission for it enabled.
