Since the 1.0.13 update I started having problems. I installed now the latest 1.0.15 version on my raspberry pi3.
I enter username and password and I'm able to read the songs playlists, search and so on, but when I try to play any song it freezes and after 20 seconds a message says to me it's impossible to play the music. I tried to reinstall the plugin, to remove and authorize again the plugin in my account, restarting raspberry, but still have same issue.
Any idea?
1) What platform/machine/OS are you running ?
2) Did you do a complete restart after installing the latest version ?
First of all thank you for great work and answer!!
Platform is raspbian Jessie, latest version, installed on a raspberry pi 3. The addon is updated to the latest version and installed on kodi 17.3. Sure, I did a total kodi factory restore too, installed the plug-in again and removed and added authorization again and for sure rebooted. It's not a connection issue because I have no problem at all loading list of songs or albums or playlists, I have problems when trying to play something. With version 1.0.12 I didn't have any problem at all. Thank you

I'm not overly concerned about my username. but did a search for the PW and couldn't find it... hopefully it's not in there, if it is, please let me know and I'll change it immediately.
Is this possibly a media file bitrate mismatch that's gumming up the works? I've seen similar hangs in the past that appeared to be related to incompatibilities between the source and receiver settings.
edit: and yes... I uninstalled the older version, deleted app data, restarted Kodi, installed the newer version (.15) and entered in the userdata, rebooted kodi and attempted to play a file.

Thanks. Please try to play a song and after that collect the logfile for me.
I really need the logfile to see what's up. I had to manually build all librespot binaries and I wouldn't be surprised if I made a mixup there.

Sure!
I created a new clean log doing only the steps you asked for. Here it is:

Exactly same behavior of mine
sswilson you seem to have a different debug output after login. Yours:

@tmontanaro i haven't looked in detail but from what you mention you might need to on a browser enabled (Android / Windows) version of Kodi, install this very same repository and addon and then navigate to kodi userdata\addon_data\plugin.audio.spotify copy the cache file to the same location on your pi and it may work
No, that is no longer needed since the 1.1.x version of the plugin. It only still requires a browser if you're running the plugin on Android or IOS.
I'm not at home now, but I tried on my laptop that runs windows 10, kodi 17.3, plugin.audio.spotify-1.1.9.zip
I'm trying to use a free spotify account (no premium)
I attached the log obtained on windows to this post.
However, the important lines are these:

Thanks for pointing out that this is logged in plain text. I changed my log at pastebin accordingly.

I don't remember for sure but it's possible my initial spotify registration was done through a g+ account link. My login profile was changed manually afterwards.
Hi marcelveldt. I love this addon, really useful, and use it on OSMC in a Raspberry Pi 3. But, the problem is that they don't allow me to chose my language (because it don't have), so I've thought, can I help to translate the addon? I'm brazilian and would like to use in Portuguese. Would be easer to my family to use and probably another person from my country. I see that have another two languages available beyond English, and, if you want and allow me, I can translate to Portuguese and Spanish. I send you the files already translated and you upload in the addon, or by another way. Please, send me an email or a private message about it. This addon is something really useful, one time that this addon is so great and needled to any media center.
Today I've decided to update from Openelec 6 to 8 on my Raspberry PI2 and now I have trouble to get Spotify addon working.
I have copied .authentication cache file from desktop Kodi into \\OPENELEC\Userdata\addon_data\plugin.audio.spotify same as I did with Openelec 6 (and worked until now).
I have my premium account login filled out in the addon's settings.
When I try to launch Spotify, I only get error after about 20s telling me to check log.
Here is part of Kodi's log mentioning spotify

What am I doing wrong?

Note that OpenELEC is not actively maintained and even the latest version has significant bugs. Many have moved to the LibreElec fork.
I have switched to Libreelec, but there's no difference. The Spotify addon still fails to log in.

Please install my beta repo, you now installed a VERY OLD VERSION of the addon.
See first post for details.
