Full Version: Treat a recording that is in-progress as live-tv with a prebuffer

We often start to watch a tv show after (for example 15 minutes) the recording has been started in the background, while it is still being recorded.
While watching, we skip or FF commercials.

When we are up to "live", Kodi exits because it doesn't receive any data anymore (error in logs).

It would be really great if at that moment, livetv would start to "play".

Essentially, this would mean that when a request is made to start playing a file which is a recording is in-progress, this file would be considered to be without an end, would be considered livetv with a buffer in the front.

It would be a +1 for me happens to me a lot
I do the same thing to avoid those annoying commercials, who doesn't Wink
It would indeed be nice if Kodi would seemingly switch to the live-channel if the buffer is empty.

Don't know how much work this would involve, but a definite +1 here..!
VNSI has this feature for a long time. Not sure if other PVR clients support this too.
So it's tied to the backend.
Allright, well then I will not get my hopes up.

Thanks for your input!
Resurrecting an older thread because this is a feature that really should be in the PVR feature and the addons.

I don't care if kodi switches to live-tv mode, but it would be nice if kodi would check the size of the recording periodically so that it doesn't quit when it hits what it thinks is the end.

There was some discussion on the mythtv PVR addon github on this issue:

https://github.com/janbar/pvr.mythtv/issues/30
This is already under discussion see https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=332405

Conclusion by our lead dev for video issues is that it’s a problem with the mythtv addon or the backend.
I just tested with Kodi 18 alpha 3 and tvheadend and it works! Fantastic work guys.
