BTW - If you've updated to LibreELEC running 17.x of kodi - you should be updating the tvh addon to 4.2.x or higher. The addoins should update automaticaly - unless you have tuirned that off.

I'll check the addon in the AM. If it hasn't updated I'll force it.
Well I've made a mess of that!!!
I updated the CLIENT on my libreELEC box and the SERVER stopped running. I then found the SERVICE addon and updated that but it only went to version 4.0.9-12 (from the libreelec addon repository).
Now the SERVER won't start. I get this message if I try to access the client:
TVHEADEND HTSP Client... Service does not respond properly.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

OK, I tried to update the libreelec repository (it was up to date) and started looking around in it and found that the 4.2 server addon was a separate addon and not an update. So I installed it and things appear to be on track. I've lost my channels/guides configuration but I can work on that.
Yeah - 4.2 was so different that you had to basically start over with your tvh setup. I can say it has been a solid upgrade and worth the time to rebuild your channel settings. I'm about halfway done with building a basic tvh configuration addon so you can manage your tvh setting from kodi without having to use the web interface. As soon as I have it ready for testing I will post in this forum. :-)
can't wait to try. thank you for your hard work.

Well that was about 4 hours of work!
I think I've got everything done except for two things:
2) I'm only getting 3 days of EPG even though I have it set to pull 14 days,
3) there's some new stations in my area that don't seem to be in zap2it's data. I can't find them on their website.

What are the advantegous you've found with 4.2? So far I've not seen anything new.
Are you getting 3 days in kodi or in tvh? Kodi has it's own # of guide days setting in the PVR(Live TV) settings. If you have 14 days showing in tvh and only 3 days in kodi - that's the issue :-)

For the tvh 4.2 upgrade - biggest one for me was the addition of the atsc ota grabber. You can see the other stuff if you scroll down here: https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/roadmap

Glad it's working again!

I'm getting three days in both TVH & Kodi.
I've reboot a couple of times and it hasn't changed.
I know it's running because I initially got it set up on Tuesday and it has added an extra day twice now.
OK - that likely means that the server is timing out when downloading data. Depending on how many channels you have, the zap2it website will limit the amount of data. So the fix is to add a couple of extra days each time and rerun. So set the zap2xml addon to download 3 days. Then run the grabber, then set it to 5 days and rerun it and see if it adds those days. If so, continue until you get to the 14 days. Then you can leave it set at 14 as it will only need to download a new day each time.

The other way you can test this is to turn off extra details and icons and see if all the 14 days of data loads in. Then if you get the 14 - try turning the xtra details back on.

Unfortunately, this is a limit of the zap2it site. It's why I eventually went with schedules direct for really good guide data!

We'll I've set it to 4 days and all of the other options are OFF and I've set a delay between http requests to 1.0.
I still only get 3 day of data. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.
***
When that failed I changed it to 2 days of data, rebooted the backend and I still have three days of schedule.
****
I've also gone into TVH and made sure that all of the other grabbers are disabled.
****
Let everything run overnight and this morning the CONFIG/CHANNEL/EPG GRABBER tab says the epg was updated around 12:30am but my EPG has no new data. I turned the OTA grabber back on and forced it to run and it grabbed a third day.
So it appears that TV_GRAB_ZAP2XML isn't running at all.
Any suggestions as to what to check?
If you have the OTA grabber enabled, you will only get 1-3 days depending on what the station is transmitting.

If you have that enabled and at a higher priority than the zap2xml grabber, then the channel is likely defaulting to that OTA info.

For a test - disable the OTA grabber - and also make sure the zapxml grabber is enabled. Then go into CONFIG > CHANNEL/EPG > CHANNELS and make sure that you have selected a zap2xml EPG source for each channel.

Then rerun the internal grabber. Watch the log window (open at the bottom right of the screen - double up arrows) and after a minute or two you should see an update that says how many channels, programs, etc it grabbed. Post that info here if you can. Thanks.

1) zap2xml is the only grabber on. It is set to priority 1
2) 25 channels are all set to use the zap2xml grabber
3) ran the grabber and here is the log info:

4) checked the EPG and the last data is for Sunday (three days)!

So I've started looking at schedules Direct. I set up a trial profile and then jumped back to your grabber and realized it doesn't grab from schedules Direct; only zap2it & tv guide. Is there another grabber somewhere?

Nevermind. I found it.
Thanks.

Still having a battle on my hands but I'll move over to the SD thread.
For zap2xml - one thing you may want to check is on the zap2it website preferences - that you have set the 6 hour grid and the show only my favorite channels options.

Happy to help with the schedules direct stuff too. :-)

I had both of those set.
Now that I have SD working I might just bite the bullet and pay for it.
Thanks for your help.
No question schedules direct gives the best data...and is more reliable.

Someday I hope to get back to that plugin and put in the extra details custom section that I built into the zap2xml addon. First I'm going to finish the tvheadend configuration addon.

Schedules Direct is definitely the best route. $25/yr for ~3 weeks of guide data supplied by Tribune/Gracenote, which is the same guide data provider that most cable/satellite operators use for their sources, too.

The guide data provided by SD is also quite extensive, but you won't get a lot of the additional benefits because most grabbers export to XMLTV format, which lacks many of the fields and data points that you can get with Schedules Direct. (Did you know that SD provides sports scores for MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL for past and in progress broadcasts? And can optionally tell you if a sporting event is going longer than the EPG time slot originally allocated to it? Or provide links to series information and artwork? Or cast and crew lists with artwork? XMLTV doesn't support those functions, but SD provides them for advanced grabbers to make use of.)
