Hello All,

I have Kodi version 16 running in my amazon fire tv stick.

I have media server setup and trying to play a movie. the movie plays very fine. But along with the movie I also have the subtitle file (.srt) in the same folder. But kodi is not able to show me the subtitle.

I dont want to search the subtitle by adding opensubtitle.org add on.

Note: Both the movie name and the subtitle name are the same.

Anyone else facing the same issue or anyone knows a solution?

Rename the subtitle to the same as the film.

Blah Film.1080.SCENE.HDTV.mkv
Blah Film.1080.SCENE.HDTV.srt

Toggle Subtitles on and off with the T key on the keyboard.

Have you looked into the srt file with notepad to check it really is the correct language?

Hello All,

I have Kodi version 16 running in my amazon fire tv stick.

I have media server setup using my TP link router and trying to play a movie. the movie plays very fine. But along with the movie I also have the subtitle file (.srt) in the same folder. But kodi is not able to show me the subtitle when the movie is playing.

There are two options in Kodi
Option 1: Browse for subtitle. Using this option when I browse, it doesnt show the .srt file.
Option 2: System->settings->video->subtitle->Subtitle storage location. I have chosen "Next to the video". Note: Both the movie name and the subtitle name are the same. Just the extensions are different.

Both these options are not working.

I dont want to search the subtitle by adding opensubtitle.org add on.

Yes both the files have the same naming. I have the srt files in the same folder as the video file.

Video File: Inside.Out.2015.HDRip.XviD.AC3-EVO.avi
Subtitle: Inside.Out.2015.HDRip.XviD.AC3-EVO.srt

I tried toggling on/off. And it didnt work.

The movie plays fine with subtitles in my laptop.

I tried manually browsing for the subtitle file via the OSD (On Screen Display) Audio and Subtitle Settings in kodi. But it doesnt even display the srt file.

Things are getting even more worse now. When I try to load subtitle using browse. It shows something like "Inside.Out.2015.HDRip.XviD.AC3-EVO" in green color. I am not sure if this is video file or srt. When I select that, kodi crashes in 4 seconds.
The only option which I could find was

1) Install ES explorer
2) Install Mx player
2) Install the codec for Mx player for ARMv7

After all installation. Open es explorer, navigate to the movie file which also has subtitle in the same folder. Click the movie file and open it in mx player.

Vola.. Movie plays perfectly fine with local subtitle.
