Figured why not start a thread so we can try to keep most of the talk about it in one thread.

Here is some info regarding Intels Apollo Lake

That one I am waiting for, cause of the VP9 / HEVC-10 bit hw decoder.
As good as Kaby Lake, or Apollo Lake is just a budget chip version of former?
Does not matter at all. If it's as slow as Braswell, but does 4k@60 hevc 10 bit ... all fine. But yes it's the atom version of the nice new GPU with hevc-10 bit decoder. (Like BSW was the cheap atom for SKL).

Really? I don't saw it in specs, only Skylake graphics, so no HDMI 2.0 and GPU support only on 8b HEVC/VP9.

It says gen9 graphics and no 8bit software/hybrid not beside the codecs
Skylake GPU=Gen9 link
Sometimes things happen like in Braswell: Broadwell GPU but HEVC unit from SKL.
This will do 10 bit 4K ? (hdr)
Also 3d?
And also hd audio?

at this point according to the leaked specifications, not looking like it. 3D and HD audio shouldnt be an issue of course. Obviously thats not 100% set it stone, i guess time will tell.
So, Kaby Lake seems the one to look forward to for 10-bit 4K w3D + HD audio, carried over from present h/w.
Software support is what you need ... if it's only about the data sheet, buy some crappy xy box ...

So Apollo Lake will have better Kodi Dev support than Kaby Lake ?
Just no.
Skylake GPU=Gen9=Apollo Lake GPU=no 10b hevc/VP9, no HDMI 2.0.
No big announcement from Intel about this, so it won't be a surprise.
No software support can compensate for lack of hardware, but hibrid can be a temporary solution.
Wait for Kaby Lake.
What I meant above was: There is a whole lot Android hw out there ... which pretty impressive data sheets. But with current level of kodi support for it - it's just paper-weight.

Intelwise I wait for Broxton and this one I have most likely confused with the chip above. Broxton has hevc-10 bit support.
