a nice little package with the Mi Box inside arrived yesterday. Smile
I'm planning to get it all setup today and was wondering: Which Kodi should I use?
Official Kodi Krypton RC4, or one of the v18 test builds or SPMC?

I would like to be able to use Amazon VOD with it. A box with Kodi, Amazon and Netflix just sounds sexy. Smile

I read that there still is the auto refresh rate switching problem. But I'm able to manually set the resolution to f.i. 1080p/24p if I know the mkv I'm planning to play is in 24p and all is smooth, isn't it?

Thanks in advance for your help guys!
I'd recommend SPMC. You'll have to side load the Amazon, but try adding it from a desktop in the Google Play store first. I've added a few apps that way (Pushing from a desktop browser).
I haven't had any problems with setting mine to 1080/24. The main refresh issues seem to be for those using 4K.
Unless something has changed...

Erm... last time I checked no version of the Amazon Video App itself was working on the Mi Box ?
Can I connect a webcam and use skype?
Just installed SPMC. I can't add my NFS sources. Sad
When trying to add a new source and selecting NFS it shows the IP of my NAS. After clicking on the IP it presents both NFS shares i created but i can't open them.

It works perfectly fine on my RPi2 with libreelec and any other device i had so far.

Any idea? This is my /etc/exports:

Code:
/i-data/4ed7fc3c/nfs/Videos *(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,wdelay,no_root_squash)
/i-data/4ed7fc3c/nfs/Music *(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,wdelay,no_root_squash)

Found this to be an issue w/Kodi on Android overall. With some boxes, you can browse to a NFS share, and add it as a shortcut... which you can then add in Kodi. Don't know if there's a way to do this on Mi Box (or nVidia Shield)... but, ideally, it would be great to directly browse to and add NFS shares in Android like you can in LibreELEC or Windows.

IIRC, "insecure" is mandatory.

Here's a working one of mine:

Code:
/mnt/mirror/public   192.168.0.0/16(rw,all_squash,insecure,nohide)
/mnt/mirror/backup   192.168.0.0/16(rw,all_squash,insecure,nohide)
/mnt/iomega/movies   192.168.0.0/16(rw,all_squash,insecure,nohide)
Trying to add a 64gb thumb drive but the unit will not format it for internal storage. The unit will see the thumb drive and add it as external storage.

Is there a problem with adding internal storage to this?
@Koying Thx to the Kodi wiki (http://kodi.wiki/view/NFS) I tried that and can confirm that its now working perfectly fine. Smile
But let me also thank you for the advice!

The Xiaomi Mi Box is running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with AMLogic S905X SoC hardware & Firmware update 12th Jan.

Tested with SPMC 16.5.5 and Kodi Krypton RC3....

Hi,

I'm a little confusing about "Xiami Mi Box" versions available...

* The official box is $69: http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/
* The "international" version: $80: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/p...html?wid=4
* The "original": $66: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/p...tml?wid=21

Which one are you talking about being a very good purchase in your recent update of this post?

Thanks.

We are talking about these two versions in this thread. These are exactly the same apart from the packaging box they get delivered in.

OR this same one:

International Mi Box - Ships from Spain
It's none of those. They are the model my box 3, aesthetically they are the same, just change the knob. Look for the version MDZ 16 AB
Sorry but you are completely and utterly wrong if you are referring to the links I have just posted above.

All those devices I posted are the same spec as the USA model - MDZ 16 AB - Mi Box.

I've even bought one for my sister from that same shop on AliExpress. I know what I'm talking about here. Wink

There is an official Android TV remote control App for Android and iOS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...mote&hl=en

If that is unsatisfactory, like everyone else using Android Boxes (yes even the Shield) you are going to need to buy a Wireless Air Mouse remote or touchpad keyboard if you want to use such thing as a Chrome Browser or touchscreen Sideloaded Apps.
I use a Wireless MINIX A2 Lite, Air Mouse, Mini Keyboard remote.

SPMC will have TV / Movie titles in the Recommendations Row once you Add your A/V Library and Scrape Metadata.

Thanks for the reply. Ive had a look at that google remote app, but seems there is an issue with this and the mi box and it doesnt work. Plenty of people reporting this on play store comments. Ive just ordered a 2.4Ghz C120 remote. The one you suggested looks good, but its probably more than I need
Still struggling with Netflix on this box. Sometimes Ultra HD is not available at all and I have not seen/heard 5.1 sound so far.

I tried the usual things like factory reset, uninstall/ reinstall Netflix app. None of this helps.

I noticed a few other strange things. HDMI autodetect keeps giving 720p while I have a 4 K TV connected. Digital Sounds auto detection says SPDIF while I connect over HDMI and there is no SPDIF cable plugged in.

I just plugged in a thumb drive to check, couldn't add. I have one setup as internal storage but did it when I did a factory reset on my Mi Box. I believe you have to do this at initial setup. Go to storage and reset and do a factory reset with thumb drive in.

Be warned about something though, and I'm no expert, so someone may be able to tell you how to get around problem I had.

I had a thumb drive set up as internal storage, but after the reset, the 1st 2 Apps I installed were Kodi and SPMC. The system installed Kodi on the Mi's internal memory and SPMC on the thumb drive. The thumb drive is slower and I didn't want that so I actually removed mine and did another factory reset and installed my most important Apps on the Mi Box internal memory because I want them running fast.
