I have a question about animated gifs.
I know animated gifs don't work over a network share. If you point to a share e.g. smb share the first frame of the animated gif is shown but not the animation. So the gifs have to be stored locally to work.
Can someone please explain why? I like to know the technical reason why.
I have 3 Kodi boxes. 2 with windows and one with android. For windows i have mapped a local letter to a network share with the animated gifs within. I point to this letter and the gifs are working over the network.
If i point directly to the smb share it's not working? Why?
Because in android i can't map a local letter and since i use a shared mysql database the animated gifs are not working in the android environment.
I don't blame anyone but i like to know why?
