I wrote this addon to help uniquely identify kodi installs through multiple installations if needed, I based it off the sample hello world.
I have tested it on both Windows, and Linux. Please help verify it on OSX and Android...

I would like to convert it to a module and return the id to any requesting addon, what is the best way to do that?

Team Kodi is against identifying and/or tracking users/installs. This "feature" is missing in kodi on purpose.
