Full Version: Kodi ignores Rotate metadata in video files?

I have a Nexus 5x which has an oddity in that nearly every video i take with the phone in normal orientation is actually recorded upside down, and the MP4 has a Rotate flag added to it to correct the issue (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#...GbLbf9ytS8) Basically they put the camera hardware in upside down for space reasons i guess.

Imagine my surprise when i played one of these files from Kodi, it was upside down! The thumbnails for the file were correct (i don't know if those were embedded in the video, or if they were generated by Kodi).

Is this a bug in Kodi? Seems like most software players respect this metadata tag. I couldn't even find an option to rotate the video in the advanced video menu.

see when this was implemented in vlc for example of what is needed: http://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.git;a=...6753a03871
Kodi should respect the flag. Can you try this with SPMC (wiki) or with Kodi and "MediaCodec (Surface)" disabled (Settings -> Videos -> Acceleration ->)
