Easy:
-rob addon has been labeled as piracy addon (and I do not care here if it is right or wrong)
-this thread talk about a future repo that would probably provide this addon
-according to kodi rules, repo is banned too
-all talks about this repo are not allowed anymore on the forum
-thread is closed

Maybe it would have been better to wait more and see if this repo really provide the addon when it will really open but only team kodi can take or not this decision

The thread was about a repo that could still be discussed on the Kodi forums. That was the whole point. It was discussion about what it might be and what it might contain. Now that very discussion has effectively been banned. This absurdity has reached "think police" level.

Think you mean Thought Police, from Thoughtcrime, and I agree to a degree. I don't agree that the thread should be closed.

Before being closed I was about to ask if it be OK for this new unofficial addon repo to hold legal porn ("adult") addons?

Could you allow some addons? From example: https://github.com/xbmc-adult/ or https://github.com/antigenx/xbmc-repo-agx

I honestly don't understand why Team-Kodi's official addon repo don't allow legal "XXX" (X rated) porn addons.

Yes your etics have draw the line somewhere but don't accept that line is no porn at all, period. Not all porn is evil.

Porn that is illega in most countries such as nonconsenting, underage people, or animal sex should obviously not be allowed.

And porn addons that violate copyrights (piracy of porn content) should of course not be allowed, as piracy is piracy.

But why not have any porn addons at all? Why should Team-Kodi moral standards set the bar at no porn allowed at all?

To quote Austin Powers Goldmember: "What! Who doesn't like porn? Everything's good in moderation!"
Ned, like I said elsewhere; Discussion about that repo on these forums will not happen.

Let us just accept that the repo will come to live one way or another. So in that regard;

- Let's come up with a domain name associated with it.
- Host it somewhere and install a MyBB forum onto it.
- Let us all move the discussion about that new repo including the most likely beneficial addons that will move to it over at that new place.
- Let us all carry on with our lives. Offical addon discussion here, un-official addon discussion there.

That's it. Onwards.

(Hang on! Why do I have this strong "DeJaVu feeling" with this whole post...? )
OK, as I've yet again had enough of all this, I've spoken to various members of the team and have an understanding of the stance here. I will try and relay that in this post hopefully to make things more clear.

Basically whilst the promotion of add-on developers individual repos here is fine and supported (under the normal rules concerning their content of course), the promotion of a general "catch-all" repo is not allowed, even a curated one. At the moment it is acknowledged that submitting add-ons to the official repo is not as simple as it might be, but it would be preferable for the community efforts to go towards improving that than to simply branch things off into a 3rd party repository with items ending up there rather than being submitted to the official repo at all.

The Team Kodi goal is to have as many add-ons which are acceptable under the rules as possible in the official repo. Once we have that in place the other add-ons which remain can be indexed and reviewed as to why they were not able to be included and what action can be taken for that. This is not what the "unofficial repo" proposal has become and is why the thread is now locked.

This is something entirely separate from the ongoing RobWebset add-on/repo issue, although as some of those add-ons are now clearly in violation of the forum rules (wiki), any inclusion of them in any repo would render that repo banned as well. Had they not already been withdrawn they would have been removed from the official repo anyway.
@RockerC - I would expect that would be to try and ensure that Kodi is "family friendly", given that for the official repo there is no option than for it to be installed in Kodi, and it would be difficult for the common user to limit what can be installed.

So imagine a situation of a family with a Kodi-based device connected to their TV (or their TV having Kodi installed on it), and little Jimmy the teenager starts playing around and finds such add-ons. We then open ourselves to parental complaints, plus of course there is the question of age ratings/limitations on places like the Play Store. I know the same could apply to a web browser and most teens etc have access to stuff that would make their parent's toes curl anyway, but the limitation is there.

Fundamentally the team generally has no issue with legitimate porn (hence why there are add-ons and repos on this site that make it available), but generally it's better for all that it's specifically added on rather than included in the built-in repo and available whilst "browsing".

Is this a new rule that is currently being developed? I don't believe that I have seen this stated anywhere else.

1.) There is at least one other "catch-all" 3rd party repo with a thread in the forums, maybe more...I didn't really want to dig for this. This repo also contains some add-ons that the official repo contains. I am not trying to get this repo banned or the maintainer banned, which is why I am not naming the repo. I think the better option would be to work with the repo maintainer to correct the duplicate issues, which is probably a real issue.

2.) Can you give a little more reasoning for not allowing repos that aren't specific to one developer? I just don't understand not allowing grouped repos. I would like to think the forums can be a place where open and honest discussion can happen, without automatically jumping to bans and threads being closed/trashed.
1) There shouldn't be. Here I'm not including"themed" ones like language specific ones that wouldn't be of general forum interest.

2) I think you misunderstand me a little (or I didn't put it clearly enough). Whilst a repo should have one principle maintainer who is responsible for it, there would be no issue with other developers collaboratively having inputs to add-ons in the repo. It's when they are used to just host otherwise unrelated add-ons from other developers that problems can come. In that case a seperate repo would be required, with the author as maintainer.
What about all those language content driven "catch-all" repo's?

Why are they allowed and these others not?

Hence there is even a whole sub-forum section discussing live 3rd party repo's. (hence even the name of the sub forum Why is discussing another one that isn't even live yet forbidden?

Sorry for completely missing the logic here...
They are very limited, small and self contained. Their scope and audience is much smaller and more limited than what is under proposal here.

The crossover and clash with the official repo I'd much less than a general catch all repo.
