Request to add the TMDB ID to tv shows, They play an important role in how tv shows are scraped. The episodes often come from TVDB as the data there is better for that, but primary show data often comes from TMDB, graphics as well.
I would be looking at TMDB IDs to appear where the current IDs appear... Details tab, the edit window, etc.
Regarding others for example on use, Trakt.tv uses TVDB in cooperation with TMDB, lists both IDs for shows and requests that prior to importing, both TMDB and TVDB are populated for what is being imported. For further details on how this is done there, please see here:

In summary:
"TMDB is used for the top level show info like title, year, genres, and country. It is also used for high quality posters, fanart, and episode screenshots. TVDB is used for all season and episode info and as a fall back for info missing on TMDB."
People can get data where they choose, but my point here is that TMDB for users of Trakt, and Kodi, is a key data factor.
