Full Version: Upgrading to 16.1 Jarvis…doesn't say stable release

Hello, I just watched a few YT videos that showed how to upgrade to the latest version of Kodi but when I looked in the ES file to see what the current version is on my Firestick, it says 16.1 Jarvis. On those YT how-to videos it states to only download that version when it says "Current Stable Release". Mine doesn't say that. I read that Jarvis came out in April 2016 so now that is November 2016, why is it still not saying that its a stable release? I am still using Kodi 15.2 by the way on my Firestick. Any suggestions on what I need to do to upgrade to the most up to date "stable" version of Kodi?

Thanks!
16.1 is the current stable release.

You will be best served avoiding a lot of those so-called YouTube tutorials as they will just lead you into banned add-ons (wiki). That will often result in an unstable, unreliable and even broken system and it will preclude any support here.

As DarrenHill stated, avoid the YouTube videos. All methods for installing and updating Kodi can be found in the Kodi wiki here: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_on_Fire_TV

Stable releases of Kodi can be found under "Current release" here: https://kodi.tv/download/
Thanks for the help but I am still confused. I've done everything I am supposed to do: turned on ADB debugging and turned on: accept apps from unknown sources. I created a bookmark for Kodi in the ES Explorer. Since I am using a firestick, I clicked on ARM under Android and it does nothing. Is this the only method for upgrading to 16.1? Is there a video that describes how to do this? Actually there are videos but you all said not to go by how they are saying to upgrade for some reason.
