Tried a clean build, same issue with the plugin. If i try a different slideshow plugin, I don't get the overlay.

So you don't have this problem with #1208, and the problem is first seen with #1209b? In #1209b there appears to be only a kernel bump and and minor Kodi updates.

To me, #1209b doesn't seem likely as the cause of this issue, so either it first appeared in an earlier build, or is an add-on issue (is the add-on still Kodi 18 compatible?), or maybe even a corrupt setting.

Can you also test with a clean .kodi - this will help eliminate corrupt setting and influence of any other addons:

then configure your pictures and test the slideshow.

Assuming you still have the issue, please identify the first build with the abnormal behaviour, as we should then hopefully be able to narrow down the issue.

Yes, I can confirm this issue started with #0104, and it doesn't affect Generic with build #0104 so appears to be RPi specific (as far as my builds are concerned).

I've tested with local (/storage/video) files and see the same behaviour as you do:

My understanding is that is not required for the changes to ffmpeg 3.2 api (but moving to ffmpeg 3.2 will require the 3.2 adaptation commits).

Very likely. I've looked through the patches and nothing stood out. Thumbnail extraction shouldn't use HW decoder, so I'm surprised generic behaves differently to pi.
But I'll try to reproduce and debug when I get a chance.

It's been a while since I updated so I figured it was about time. I tried to go from #0701 (2016) to #0110 but it just got stuck in an animation bootloop. Unlike others who've reported this problem I'm not using USB boot, just SD card and I tried unplugging my USB tuner to no avail (although my USB hub which has my IR dongle plugged into it was still connected).

Anyway, I'll try extracting #0112 manually on my PC and report back.

Well, I did some more investigation with the release #1109x which contain kernel 4.10

CPU usage and temperature values seams to be identical between #1109 and #1109x.
The values are also identical with my longtime averages measurements .
I think the test I made yesterday had higher temperatures because of higher bitrate (40'000 kb/s and 34'000 kb/s) of the movies.
Kernel 4.10 has no negative impact for me. Very smooth release...

I did a custom build using your buildsystem where these commits were blacklisted. Thumbnail extraction now works again. So indeed these commits are the culprit. Unfortunately I could not narrow it down further since these commits kind of depend on each other.

I have on the left the categories: film, TV show, and so on. But I need several categories for film.
I have Hd movies, animation films and 3 D movies. Can I create different categories on the page?
When I go over the category video, the posters are not displayed correctly.

That's a skin specific issue/requirement, please ask in the Estuary forum, eg. the Feature Requests thread.

It's a known issue (with these builds) if you are extracting thumbnails from the videos - try build #0103 as that should be working. If that doesn't fix the issue, then post screenshots and a debug log from the latest build.

@guldfisken1982 the latest build should mean you can revert the lirc fix I suggested here.
