Do I have to contact the developer of this addon see if they'll be able to correct whatever it is that's causing the issue, or is this still something to be fixed this end?
Can you pls. provide the full log (most interesting the backtraces on the beginning)

Will do,
give me a few minutes to update and grab the crashlog
Updated to lastest via libreelec dev updater
Update ran well, device loaded, no crashes.
Then realised VPN manager was disabled
Enabled it, and kodi.bin crashed.

That's not a crashlog, that's your normal kodi log. The crashlog can be uploaded with "cat /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi_crash.log | pastebinit"

Then paste the link. What is the IP address of your Windows 7 PC?
Thanks for following up sorry for the delay here is the log
this is stock LE install

this is tonight's build:
http://sprunge.us/CIgA
spinning wheel then drops me back to ".." with nothing listed.
w7 machine with shares is the 192.168.1.105 addresss which is listed as the master browser for workgroup.
@E92M3:
OK, so having established your master browser is a Windows 7 machine, what is the output from "smbtree -n" on LE 8.0.2 (with Samba3) and a test build (with Samba4)?
Att Milhouse,
Many thanks for your hard work here, have issue with the latest versions (i.e. 0627 & 0628)
Have reverted back to 0626 and works fine.
Issue "seems" to be with Nvidia driver? Issue - blank screen with mouse pointer but nothing else
Pastebin of crash log, core dumps ->
https://pastebin.com/ej2XdwUy
Pastebin of reverted 0626 ->

Many thanks again
@
paulski999 the issue is with the vfs.rar addon, which I will no longer include in future builds (starting with #0629). That will stop the crashes, but if you need RAR support you'll have to stick on #0625 (and wait until the vfs.rar addon is added to the LE 9.0 repository - no eta on a repository push given how unstable the addon API is right now), or go back to an official LE 8.0.2 release.

Thanks. So that confirms this is a core Samba4 issue, rather than a Kodi issue - Samba4 simply doesn't return any usable browse information. It's difficult to know why, considering how flakey Samba is as a technology.
There's something in your network, or it might be how your master browser is configured (have you changed anything in regedit?) that causes Samba4 to fail to return any browse information. It's difficult to know what this might be as Samba4 (when using default settings on LE) will work in other networks (provided the master browser supports NT1).
I'd just add the smb:// source manually to sources.xml and be done with it.
