Just check your AVR manual (http://www.theatresystem-manual.com/manu..._TH-S3.pdf)

Seems like depending on the settings of the AVR some surround signal will not be processed

Check that the AVR is set to "surround off" or "auto surround" and retry to play a file in kodi
yes, AVR is set to 'auto surround' (I also tried surround off) but unsuccessful,
not sure if it can help but manual says that its using Audio CODEC: G.726, can it help?
I have the same setup as you, PI2 <- HDMI -> TV -> SPDIF -> AVR. If this is still the connection method you're using, the cause of error could also be your TV. While my AVR handles properly E-AC3 etc (worked just fine when I had a Windows based HTPC with SPDIF), my TV can't PT it. So your AVR could be fine but the weak link could be your TV
TV is passing signal correctly, but anyway I'm trying also external sound card connected straight to AVR by S/PDIF
and the result is same
Then - you should throw the AVR away - sorry for that.

I tried those files but non of them works,
can you provide some with even less bitrate

Thanks

You played them without (!) Transcoding ticked? If yes -> even pure AC3 won't work for you. Sad.

yes Sad
Also post a Debug Log please when playing them.

Probably you are right!
But I don't want to gave up, It's already personal Smile
Play the above samples, please and provide your Debug Log. If you use kodi 16 ... upgrade to 17 first. 16 had broken (non existent) pause burst frames.
I tried all of them, then I created 44.1KHz one, then I made ac-3 with only 2ch and still the same

weird is, that it plays DTS without problem

(now runs on kodi 17, but tried on 16 also)

This is unrelated - but this is totally not good. It spams every millisecond :-) whatever that is - make it go away, please. Joystick

All fine from what I see. Same with LibreELEC Milhouse builds? Yes I think so, right?
