would anyone know how i can upload the latest kodi v17.1 , as I am getting the same message constantly and can only get Kodi v16.1 Jarvis

You can't. V17 simply does not work on Android < 5. Try finding a special build od v17 for android < 5 somewhere (it is not OFFICIAL Kodi!)

Best bet would be buy a Windows 10 box, like a NUC or a Zotac...etc. Then you will have no more issues with the OS being outdated! I haven't looked back since I did this. Best move I ever made for running Kodi was leaving Android behind.
