I looked at the wiki and some other articles but I am a little confused. I know I need a backend for PVR but I do not have an antenna here and I want to get rid of xfinity. I see lots of videos on youtube about IPTV and all the options. I was thinking of using a raspberry PI but do I still need a card to decode the video? If there is nothing going into it whats the point? Also what about something like a firestick from amazon? Would that get plugged into the Kodi or the tv? I got the square s3 and also Leelbox T95Z plus S912 Octa-core CPU Android 6.0 TV Box 2GB Ram+16GB

Ive been reading here. http://kodi.wiki/view/PVR_backend

Note that i dont want to record shows just watch some like shows or sports

Im on the road a lot and need something simple for my familly to use if I am not home

Any suggestions would be appreciated

i was thinking this but i dont have a computer near the TV so would it plug into the KoDi or tv?

Silicondust HDHomeRun extend would work best with an ota antenna
yes that in conjunction with silicondust.com/shop and you can DVR over the air feeds to a shared computer networked storage for all TVs to view. I do this in my house with an HDHomerun prime (cablecard) for FiOS. I take it a step further and monitor the recording folderwith MCEBuddy (paid) and comskip (paid) to reduce file size and remove commercials.
Thx for that. do you really need a 3rd party hardware option to just watch IPTV? Seems if i can stream movies you culd stream TV with all the channels out there
if your goal is getting stuff for free that you would normally have to pay for you are on the wrong website. if your goal is assistance with setting up a reliable system then you are in the right place.
