Full Version: Multiple genres

Hi,

My music library is managed by MediaMonkey.
On a lot of tiltles i had more than one genre.
In MM they are entered llike Oldies;Instrumental;xxx

When adding these to Kodi they are showing up like different genres.

So there is
- Oldies
- Instrumental
- Oldies;Instrumental;xxx

as different genres...

Is this a bug or do i have to live with it...

Merry Xmas to al...

You are probably using ID3v2 tags? For this tag format, there is a single allowed tag frame called TCON for "genre". MM uses a user-defined field separator for TCON (and other frames as well) which you have defined as "semi-colon" (MM default is "semi-colon space"). Kodi expects a different field separator, namely "space forward slash space". You can change this in Kodi advanced settings (wiki). This might cause some unwanted side effects (which is why I add APE tags to mp3 format music since APE does not need separators). An alternative is to use a media manager that supports ID3v2 2.4 (I see an alpha version of MM 5.0 is available that does write v2.4 so that may be an option for you?)

edit: I took a quick look at MM5 and my impression is it's way too raw at this point to trust on any real files.
