Full Version: slow motion in some HD channels when switching to them

Hello,

I currently have an android TV device with both KODI 17 RC 2 and the SPMC (fork version of KODI 16) installed.
Issue is happening on KODI 17, no on KODI 16 or the fork version based on KODI 16. The issue does not occur on the server neither.

I noticed that when switching channels, some HD channels stay in slow motion. I keep the channel on, but it doesn't change or fix itself. If I switch channels and go back, it sometimes fixes itself. No specific channel, happens to any HD channel at random.

All versions of KODI are using about the same amount of CPU and memory when browsing the KODI interface. I make sure to exit and reboot the android device between test.

I also tried the latest nightly of krypton for ARM v7.... kodi-20170102-ab7f182-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk
The NextPVR plugin is 2.4.10

The issue still occurs.
No Debug Log no issue. But yes, currently mediacodec is broken for LiveTV. What about this version: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk
That fixed the issue, what is the change in that version versus the RC in the play store?
We (fernetmenta and I) currently test some kodi v18 works to give singleton decoders another chance of working properly. Thanks for your feedback. This won't make it into the official kodi version (far too intrusive and it was WIP - the final solution will be better), but I plan to post a working version for personal use after every release.

Excellent, thanks. By the way, it was tested on a Sony bravia x850D running Android TV 5.1.1 API 22 (kernel: Linux 3.10.27). It uses a dual core ARMv7 processor.
So, that works?
Sorry for the late answer. It works great. I will bookmark the mirror for your releases and use those. I would love to have your release become the official one on the play store.
For v17 we found a less intrusive partially workaround - which might you need to press "stop" from time to time: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk - won't get better this time. Doors open wide for v18.
Thanks. I will continue checking the threads from time to time and wait for v18. Rig needs to have wife approval. Sad
The former build worked better?
I also experienced the "slow motion" live TV playback on my Android devices with Kodi Krypton 17 RC2. I am testing on a Galaxy Tab A (SM-T550) running Android 6.01 and an Android R-BOX E5 (2G/8G) using the Rockchip RK3229 and Android 5.1. Krypton works perfectly on my Windows 7 machine, just the Android devices are affected. They do not have any trouble at all with Kodi V16.1. I use them with NextPVR and two HDHomeRun devices (a Prime and a Connect).

The build in post #4 works pretty good, although you still have to "goose it" (seek forward) after you select a channel sometimes. The second build you posted works also, but it does seem to experience issues after a few minutes, such as going into "slow motion" or just plain freezing up. However, both builds have lip sync issues, to the point I couldn't really watch for more than a few minutes.

I will be going back to 16.1 for the time being. Like gaijinboricua said, it has to be "wife approved" Big Grin
