On some systems Kodi Interface Sounds can be too loud compared to media volume. Depending on your hardware setup and media source, big difference in loudness may cause discomforting or even painful experience. To solve this I have created two sound add-ons with reduced UI volume, using Audacity:
- Kodi UI Sounds (-12 dB) [50% original volume] Mega | Dropbox
- Kodi UI Sounds (-24 dB) [25% original volume] Mega | Dropbox
After downloading the above files, simply go to
Settings → Add-ons → Install from zip
and enable one in
Settings → System → Audio
. Restart Kodi and you're done.
Of course it would be much more convenient to have quiet sounds available from the Official Kodi.tv Repository, but I cannot publish there myself. If anyone wants to upload them — please do so. Thank you!
Thanks to @scott967 for his help.

Thanks for pointing this out! I've updated Dropbox links and added a mirror.

No, but I could probably roll my own. Give me a bit to work on it.

I want a MC sans noise, distraction & nonsense and have therefore always set Kodi to silent. However, I need sounds in two situations:
- ALWAYS: when taking screenshots.
- WHEN DEBUGGING: alert & notifications sounds.
I suppose I could achieve this sound profile by removing some mounds & editing sounds.xml from your add-on?
Could I do the same customizing the defaults? The sounds files/xml in skin folder don't do the job.
