Per the subject, since upgrading to v17 when pressing back you are always returned to the top of the movie or TV list rather than your last known position - is this behavior controllable? Has been driving me bonkers.
In a less related note, have also experienced TV show/music simply stop playing sometimes upon returning to the Home menu. Running on an FireTV1 and FireTV2 if anyone thinks it's related.
I have exactly the same problem.
If you have even the list of 500 channels, you're let's say on 212th have to go scroll again all down and the same story every single time...
How to fix it, which file is responsible for it, how to modify it?

And affects all platforms, not just Android. You can solve it by turning off play next file automatically, but I'm not sure when there will be a fix.
Thank you but it doesn't work for me. Some lists are OK and stays where I was but other moves to the top anyway. On 16.1 it wasn't a case.
Maybe something else is responsible for that?

I'm using the latest Kodi and I have this problem as well. I don't want to turn off 'play next file automatically' though even though that does work. I thought for sure this issue would be fixed with the most recent minor rev. but it's not. I'm a little shocked.
Still doing it, 18b2 x64, win10x64pro, plexbmc+plex, black glass nova. Tried the play next automatically switch. It was already off, toggled and no change.
yes its fixed in v18 but now the resume point is lost again only with play next file automatically. basically i think the devs need to look at that bit of code and see why its resetting.. in v17 resetting directory in v18 resetting resume point.. its driving me nuts.
Play next automatically is off, it still jumps to the top of the list. It always was off. Sometimes uninitialized variables need to be set explicitly, thats why toggling it made sense to try, but its still broken, (also in Krypton). I cant imagine what they fixed.
I tried a bunch of different skins last night as well. Yes, its a GIANT pita. It worked in Isengard, which I used up until hevc hw decoding came along.
