Hi, I'm sorry but I'm so angry. I have a Sony TV TV KD-65X8509C and I bought it to watch 4K video. As I make 4K documentaries and I have so many of them, I installed KODI (latest version 17.3) to manage my 4K videos and to watch them. But I realized I don't watch them in 4K. In fact, going to the configuration pages I noticed these writings 1920x1080. Look at these pages:

A friend of mine who reads these 4K files and an external reader, on those pages of Kodi reads 3840x2160. Incredible but true! This means that Sony doesn't allow Kodi to read in 4K. Right?
Some info please?
Thanks
You are asking in the wrong forum. Sony's 4K TVs have one of the most broken firmware concerning open standards. Their heavily patched internal mediaplayer is what they want you to use. Return your TV and get something else, best an external box.
Video is rendered via MediaCodec Surface in 4K. Kodi GUI is rendered in 1080p.

If you can't see the difference, it shouldn't matter anyway...
Yep CiNcH is correct.
Only the Kodi interface is 1080p. Kodi has no 2160p (4K) interface so the TV upscales that 1080p interface to 4K.
That is what you are seeing.

Can you explain better please?
I inform you I connct my pendrive or hard drive with all my UDH file directly to Sony TV by USB port.
Are you telling I'm watching my UHD videos in 1920x1080 on my Sony TV?
thanks

Kodi UI is 1080p only
This is why system info show you 1920*1080@60Hz

But your UHD files should be played at 4K (except maybe if your TV has a broken firmware...)

There is a test if you want to be sure: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=261768
On the Sony TV did you go the Android Settings > Display > Screen resolution > and select 4k2k60Hz first ?

Please!!!! I want to understand better. Can you explain better please? If I use Kodi (I have installed it in Sony Android TV) and I connect my flash drive to TV by USB port, my UHD videos will be encoded in HD and I will watch 1920x1080 videos in my TV?
If you tell Kodi to adjust refresh rate automatically then presumably your TV's OSD will tell you what resolution you are watching once you start your video.

Sorry but I don't have that Option "Android Settings". Where is it precisely? Maybe do you have another non Sony TV?

I have just made that 4K test and I read well that purple writings, even it it is very small.

Did you try the test I linked to you?

If the video is really played at 4K, maybe then you won't care about what is shown in Kodi's system info...

If you can read it clearly -> your UHD files are REALLY played at 4K

For your screenshot -> maybe your TV firmware limit app UI resolution to 1080p
Yes, I have just made that 4K test and I read well that purple writings, even it it is very small.

errrr........... it's quite simple. If your video is 4k it will play as 4k. In kodi and in default player. KODIs UI is only 1080p and that is what TV upscales to 4k.
