Since sometime in early June, and for unknown reasons, Crackler has started to act up on both my main HTPC build and on a second very basic Kodi installation that I keep on a second computer for experimentation. Both are v16.1.

The Crackler menu opens correctly showing available Movies and TV Shows. When attempting to play a movie however, the loading circle gets about 1/4 of the way around before just fading out, and nothing else happens. If I load a TV show, I generally immediately get a Playback Error message.

I tried removing and reinstalling the add-on, and even tried installing the earlier Crackler v1.0.5 version to no avail. The URL for the actual movie or TV file does play correctly from my computer. It looks like one or two other users have reported a similar problem but I have not seen a solution.

If I did this correctly, the logfile should be here: https://paste.ubuntu.com/24836534/

I hope you can help. Thanks.
Another log file: https://paste.ubuntu.com/24837403/

I Went into crackler and tryed playing the following movies:
attack the block
Extraction
ice soldiers
joe dirt 2
snakes on a plane
As best I can recall, the Crackler addon was still working on May 31, but hasn't worked since then. I'm surprised that more KODI users haven't reported this by now.

Before I generated my logfile at http://paste.ubuntu.com/24838485/ I'd done a fresh install of 17.3 (Android version) and only added 2 addons (Crackler and Kodi Logfile Uploader) prior to the logfile generation.

I'm no expert, but when I look at the logfile, it's easy to see that the .MP4 streams that are being requested for playback are all valid URLs that do actually point to the content that the KODI user requested. I.e., line # 991 in my log file corresponds to the first movie that I selected for playback (which was ARLINGTON ROAD); it shows:

Code:
991  23:11:49.145 T:18446744072504764968   ERROR: CCurlFile::Stat - Failed: HTTP response code said error(22) for http://media-us-am.crackle.com//1/l/wl/nt5wb_480p_1mbps.mp4

But if one copies that URL (http://media-us-am.crackle.com//1/l/wl/n..._1mbps.mp4) and pastes it into Google Chrome, the embedded player that loads in Chrome begins streaming that ARLINGTON ROAD movie perfectly.. And the same goes for all of those other .MP4 URLS in the log; all of them are valid, working URLs that return the content requested. So it appears that the "error(22)" is actually being sent to only KODI, SPMC, FTMC, etc. users.

How likely is it that SONY's (Crackle.com) engineers were told to universally block playback requests if they could, found a way to detect requests coming from all users of KODI, SPMC, FTMC,, etc., and since the first of June have in fact been blocking doing just that?

I've verified that that problem exists regardless of which O.S. KODI 17.3 is running. The same errors are also generated if the user is running the most current Jarvis release of KODI SPMC, or FTMC with the Crackler addon installed.
I have experienced the same on my side, tryed one of the urls on my log and it played on a browser. I thought it might be some sort of blocking. If it is, then I guess that's it for the addon Sad
Try Eracknaphobia's Crackle Add-on, works fine for me.
I do have other sources for Crackle, but I never watched it much until I discovered that the Kodi Crackler add-on has:

1) no commercials, and

2) no on-screen Crackle logo

I don't know anything about Eracknaphobia's Crackle Add-on except that it doesn't appear to install on 16.1 due to a python version error. Is it commercial-free and logo-free as well?

It would be nice to get Crackler fixed or at least understand what went wrong around the first of June that broke it.

Not working for me either...
Eracknaphobia's CRACKLE add-on works fine and appears to stream all of the movies in much higher 1080P resolution that than the typical 540P that the official CRACKLER addon typically streamed, although that's 1080P with a variable frame rate that averages in the low 20's (fps) most of the time based upon my limited testing.

This (3rd party) CRACKLE addon is issuing content requests to content.uplynk.com (instead of Crackle's servers) and uplynk.com appears to be owned and controlled by Verizon Digital Media Services, so that is definitely a factor in why it is still working even though the CRACKLER addon has stopped working. And the source code for each addon is significantly different from the other's, so it's not really surprising that Eracknaphobia's CRACKLE add-on is working.

@Alexsource, I looked at the log you posted and you really should consider doing a fresh install and maybe consider more carefully which 3rd party addons that you install on your system.

@mrsfixit, if you're saying that Eracknaphobia's CRACKLE add-on isn't working for you, post your logfile; http://kodi.wiki/view/log_file

There is no question that the official (KODI repo) CRACKLE addon is no longer working. Ironically, as of this moment, Crackle's own Amazon (native) Fire TV app is NOT working either on any (2nd Gen) Fire TV devices which I've confirmed on multiple devices and with multiple other Fire TV device owners.

Ok, at the risk of sounding like an idiot- I am not sure *which* version I have.

I run Jarvis on a Pi3. When I look at the settings for the addon the creator is listed as "eign".

I DO have Eracknaphobia's repo installed. I do NOT see any Crackle addon listed there for me to install.

I've tried to look for his version and perhaps I'm not looking in the right places, but I can't find it.

Please advise...
EIGN's is named "CrackleR" (note the "R" on the end) addon in that is in the (base / official) KODI repository. Eracknaphobia's addon is called "Crackle" (no "R" on the end)

Make sure that you have version "1.0.0" of Eracknaphobia's repo installed. As of now, the repo only consists of "Video addons" which are:

AMA Pro Racing
Beer Geeks
Crackle
FXNOW
Livestream
March Madness Live
MLB.TV
NBC Sports Live Extra
NHL TV
PS VUE
Simpsons World

That limitation didn't register with me until just now; Eracknaphobia's Crackle addon will only install on Krypton.

Darn, I was afraid of that. Thanks. ;-/

Eracknaphobia's Crackle add-on works fine on SPMC 16.7 and CEMC with xbmc.python changed to 2.24.0.
