I'm having troubles with my hi-media h8 lite I can't play movies from my external hard drive or flash USB drive

Sorry I'm new to this, I have the himedia H8 lite Octacore streaming box. What I have been trying to do is play movies which I have on my flash drive on my box. I plug the flash drive into the USB port and the flash drive lights up and I can't find any of the files which are on the flash drive. Need help please and thank you
