Hi, total newbie here. I successfully installed OpenELEC 8.0.4 on my Acer Revo RL70. It works well, but I've since read that development has switched to LibreELEC, so I want to switch to that. I followed the instructions to do a manual update from here:

https://wiki.libreelec.tv/index.php?titl..._LibreELEC

I downloaded the LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.0.2.img.gz file, placed it in /storage/.update and rebooted.

I expected to see an update happen, but instead it just simply booted into OpenELEC.

What am I missing? Is it because 8.0.2 is < 8.0.4?
If it's the partition size problem, I don't know how to check for that. I looked in the log files folder, and didn't see anything that showed any errors whatsoever.

Help!

Thanks!
It's possible that the system partition from the OpenELEC days is still too small.
You can check via SSH and do a df -h | pastebinit. You can paste the URL here.
Does openelec update from an img.gz file? I don't think it does - try a libreelec tar instead.
Ehh.. (*ahum*) Yeah, that could be a problem. Use the .tar file.
OpenELEC does not support img.gz updates.
Thank you!!! That was it. It updated itself incredibly fast, and I'm up and running in LibreELEC. Hooray!
