I have followed the instructions listed in this guide: Alternative_keymaps_for_Fire_TV_remote (wiki)
The issue is the keymap does not apply properly as certain buttons don't work and the ones that do work were working without any keymaps.
I have tried using both the keymaps 2 and 3 and have put them in the correct directory as listed on the link and named as 'keymap.xml'.
Once kodi has launched it changes the keymap file in the folder, one to a backup of the previous file with the extension or '.xml.bak.0' and also creates a gen file which contains '<keymap />'
