Hello to all.
When I have Kodi in the background, you have a high CPU consume, a higher value than when it is running.
I have disabled rss service and I only have dlna / upnp service for sharing the library.
Why ?

Could you try a nightly of kodi 18 leia? Iirc there were fixes for this that can't be backported to krypton

Tried Kodi Leia but nothing. The problem is when using apps in full screen and Kodi is on another desktop.

Is kodi in fullscreen mode too or windowed when this happens?

In both cases. Cpu increase occurs when I use another app in fullscreen

I had this issue too. What I find interesting it was showing this behavior on my 2010 MBP. Now I'm on a 2017 iMac and Kodi idles at 3,1% CPU. Both Kodi 17.3 but now I'm on 17.4

I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) with version 10.12.6

this happens for all 17.x build on macbook. Works in 16.x, seems to have to do with the screenthread/gui rebuild.

Update : Perhaps too early, but looking good here, CPU stays down even when i am doing lots of stuff on the second workspace Ill monitor it for a while.
