As soon as i try to open Kodi it freezes instantly.

I have tried everything i can think of and its still not working.

If there is a DVD in the drive, remove it please.

oh my goodness, i feel like the dumbest person ever. Thank you so much it is working now.

It shouldn't freeze though, unless the DVD (disc) is a crappy one.
Try again with a few other DVD discs.

I had this happen a couple of times when i still had a drive conncected.
It would stall or freeze only if the CDR could not be read properly
