Full Version: Possible to implement auto color-space?

Didn't see a thread about this, my apologies if there is one.

Is there anyway to implement auto color-space change within Kodi? I run Kodi on a Shield, and have the Shield set to REC.2020 for HDR. But sometimes while watching 720p/1080p REC.709 content, the colors are over-saturated. Obviously if I manually put the Shield in REC.709 color-space, it looks fine.

Since auto-framerate and auto-resolution is working, just figured I'd ask if auto color-space could be added. Not sure if that's possible within the current Android OS or not.

Thanks for any feedback!
Known issue.

Nothing to do with Android Kodi and everything to do with buggy NVIDIA Shield Firmware which NVIDIA need to fix.

Not sure if this is of any help (quoted from the Nvidia forums):

I think nVIDIA's strategy is to stick with official Google Android API's as much as possible. ColorSpace APIs were introduced only in API 26. Amlogic on the other hand, tries to implement everything their way which is what they are doing with this color space switching also (https://github.com/LibreELEC/linux-amlog...ain.c#L978). It is setting the AVI InfoFrame and Dynamic Range and Mastering InfoFrame (DRM - in Amlogic codes) based on HEVC SEI data.

nVIDIA can also do the same thing, but they have chosen not to do it for some reason.
