If you are using a Vero 4K for HDR - remember you need to do the command line trick to enable 10 bit output, otherwise you will have 8 bit HDR... (Yes - it's entirely possible to output 8 bit video and flag an HDR EOTF...)

(Unless I've missed an update from Sam that implements this.  You may also find some RGB/YCbCr differences in GUI - i.e. Green GUI vs correct colour video)

Not on my set-up it isn't.

One 4:2:0 2160/59.94p 10 bit HDR10 Rec 2020 file is output at 4:2:0 2160/59.94p 10 bit Rec 2020 HDR with an ST.2084 EOTF and renders with a green GUI over the top.

Only differences in the video are possibly the Mastering Diplay colour primaries and HDR metadata luminance values, and within the files are the audio formats, one is a .ts and the other a .mkv, and one was mastered with x265 as far as I can tell? Both are 4:2:0 10 bit 2160/59.94p HEVC Rec 2020 HDR PQ ST.2084...

The green OSD that isn't Kodi is the output of an HD Fury Vertex - showing the parameters of the HDMI content it is receiving.
Hmmm haven’t noticed any problems with 10bit, will test tomorrow again and will check the mediainfo

The second clip was mastered on a display with an unknown gamut (at least to my knowledge) Smile

The black filled circle represents the white point of this unknown gamut.
I'm looking for a 4K HDR box and leaning towards Vero 4K as it seems the most recommended box here, but seeing this comment it seems it has issues with this.

Will i be better to go with S905X or S912 box for 4K HDR with Atmos ? Is there a good box cheaper than the Vero 4k ?

Yep - ironically that's the one that renders with a GUI the right colour... (It's an x265 re-encode...)

Interesting. That - like the one that plays with the correct coloured GUI on my Vero 4K - is mastered in x265.
Are there any hints or roadmap for Libreelec/Kodi HDR on Intel Kaby Lake?

Is there any options for splitting the video and audio for 4k HDR content? I still have an older Pioneer 1080p receiver thats works great, but I want to be able to get 4k HDR content with Kodi and still receive DTS-MA/True-HD audio from my rips.

 Hey @wrxtasy, got myself another S912 box, a Tanix TX92, to try w/my Epson 5040UB. So, when I SSH that command, where do I see the results of what 4K modes might work? Thanks.

I just tried doing these and still get 8-bit playback of 10bit HDR content...
