Full Version: [Xbox] External drive read errors - possible 2TB limit on a 4TB drive?

Hi. The external drive (a WD elements 4TB portable, NTFS) was working well in general. At one point, I noticed that certain shows were working while others were not. Interestingly, there seemed to be no correlation with file type or codec (iso, mkv, mp4, m4v, etc. h264, mpg, xvid). All of the above working for one show and not another.

I eventually narrowed it down to the shows I added to the drive (all of which was done yesterday) earliest were working. Later ones were not. A little fine tuning, and the show that I thought was working was only fine up through a specific episode. Working back via the file sizes and times they were added, this was at the point of adding 2TB to the drive.

In it, I open one ISO, one MKV that work fine. Then, an ISO and an MKV that fail. Lastly, I revisit a later episode an ISO from the series that was working (past the point of having added >2TB of data to the drive) and it fails. I should also point out that all files are properly working when I open them with VLC on my PC, from the same drive.

Thanks for your time.

Edit: Apparently that log is not a debug log. I'll try to get one of those up...
In case you haven't fixed it, I had the same issue and it was solved when I reformatted my drive (also WD, but 8TB MyBook) as NTFS using this util: https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/an...px?ID=3868

Drive was exFAT when shipped.
