I apologize if this is a known issue or addressed already, I haven't seen any solutions, though I have seen this asked in other places.  I'm trying to install Kodi 17.6 on a 3rd Generation Amazon Fire TV with 4k and Alexa (https://www.amazon.com/all-new-amazon-fi...B01N32NCPM).  It has Fire OS 6.2.1.2 installed.

I'm able to download the .apk file and then run it, but when I try to install it, I get an error message saying "This app isn't compatible with your TV".

Has something happened on the Amazon Fire TV to prohibit installing this app?
Which apk?
Odd, the problem is often people trying to install the 64 bit apk on a 32 bit system, but you seem to have tried both.
I have....any other ideas?

Is Kodi known to work on the Amazon Fire gen3 with the specific Fire OS that mine has?
I have seen posts regarding one of the recent firetv hardware implementations being complete crap with Kodi but cannot find the posts right now. My recollection though was that Kodi was at least installable, but ran poorly.
Should I just look for an older model?  If so, can you recommend the most recent specific model known to work?

Thanks.
Have you tried nightlies (v18)?

My advice is, for Kodi use, forget Fire TV devices.  If you need something with Amazon video get a Shield TV.
