Hi Everyone,

I'm actually using kodi on my new "htpc" operating on OpenELEC (latest version), the problem is that when i'm playing videos my CPU is used at 100% on both cores which results on a drastic drop of fps. Here is my actual setup:

- Motherboard : Asrock T48EM1 with her APU T48E (2 Core, 1333 Mhz)
- 2 GO RAM 1333Mhz
- GPU: Nvidia GT 630

My screen is connect via HDMI directly to the Nvidia GPU (Not to the Motherboard).
I didn't install anything such as drivers (my GPU seems to be recongnize in the settings).

For someone like me who doesn't know anything about how video is played by a computer, it sounds weird that the CPU had to support this amount of work where my GPU doesnt seems to do anything...

I would like to know if kodi is using my GPU and if it is the case is there a solution to fix this fps drop ?

I apologize for my bad English, i'm still learning it at the time ^^.

Thanks for your futures answers, DrTuusen.
You have not said anything about the type of file, could you enable debug logging then play a file for which you observe this.

By the way OpenELEC is poorly supported these days and doesn't get many updates anymore more, so you'd be much better off running LibreELEC which is a fork of OpenELEC. LibreELEC has a much bigger team behind it who can provide much better support and updates that keep it current with the Kodi code.
To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file.

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Always use a paste site like pastebin.com. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum
Hi thanks for your replies ^^.

I did a new install on LibreELEC so now i'm must be ok with updates ect...
Here is my Debug Log: http://ix.io/U3Y
Video: hevc (Main 10)
You GPU doesn't support hevc and your CPU is _much_ too slow to decode it in software
Ok... well, what kind of GPU should i use so ? ^^

Thanks again for your support !
