Since nightly build kodi-20180516-afaf815f Kodi no longer plays AVI on a Fire TV. This is probably due to the recent changes in DVDAudioCodecAndroidMediaCodec or in connection with these.

Last working version is:

Detected on:
Fire TV 4k box

Example file that is no longer played - permanently rotating load symbol:

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file.

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Always use a paste site like pastebin.com. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum
@Karellen here is the debug.log Kodi.log
I can confirm I had the same issue with some .avi files with the latest nightly build, Nvidia Shield TV, and have rolled back to the 20180514 and the files are now playing.

Unfortunately I am not in the position to provide a debug log as I am out but will try to get one up later.
Sorry I did the chance to do it on my Amazon TV. Hope I’ve done it right.

Works enawutocut (paste)

Don’t work warelecele (paste)
Same problem with latest nightly on Nvidia Shield. My .avi files does not start.
Thanks - open a trac ticket. Kodi on Android is currently not maintained - therefore nobody is looking into that.

Make sure to add a Debug Log to the ticket and also check what happens when Mediacodec is completely disabled.

Debug.log

Without Mediacodecs it doesn't work either. I suspect the reason is PR#13900.

Here's trac ticket: 17883
We should try tomorrow using this night nightlies that should include this 13924 (PR) that should solve.
Problem solved with this night nightly build (kodi-20180524).
Thread can be marked as solved.
Thanks Kodi!!!
