Hello,
I'm using Krypton v17.3 on RaspberryPi 3.
I want to install PVR IPTV  Simple Client
I could locate it in Repository. I see that it's listed as version 2.12.10 but when I try to install it I've got an error:
xvmc.pvr 4.1.0 could not be found

Could someone please help me instruct/explain how to install PVR Client ?
Thanks
Why are you using an outdated Kodi.  Current is 17.6.

Depends on the OS; LibreELEC, Raspbian etc.

If you are on Raspbian you need to install with apt-get in a console.  sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-iptvsimple, then reboot the system.  In other OSs the addon is in the official Kodi repo.

Thanks a lot for your reply
I will definitely try to follow your instruction on my RaspberryPi 3.
BTW: it sounds that my Kodi is ‘old’
How could I upgrade it to a newer version?
Thanks again
Depends on the Operating System.
Well I am using RaspberryPi 3 and use all default.
I assume that OS should be Raspbian
Although I am not sure and have to verify it.
Anyway... it should be done from command line or using GUI?
Thanks
If it is raspbian. from command line do sudo apt update, sudo apt upgrade.

Raspberry Pi is a piece of hardware, Kodi is a program.  There has to be an OS between them; Raspbian, OSMC, LibreELEC or something else.
Thanks for explanation.
I found my info:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ uname -a

Should I use commands that you recommended?
Thanks
Quote:If it is raspbian.
The output you posted says "Raspbian" 6 times.
You have Raspbian Jessie and the latest version available there is Kodi 17.3. You need to upgrade to Raspbian Stretch for Kodi 17.6.
The instructions to install pvr iptv simple client are the same for both and already mentioned above.
Well thanks a lot for clarification.
Actually I don’t use my RaspberryPi at all 😎 hence I don’t think that I will upgrade my OS to Steatch just to be able to run v17.6
Actually I am not an advanced user and interested only in basic things to use Kodi.
Hence my conclusion is to stay where I am now but try to install PVT IPVT Client in order to watch TV.
Thank you all for valuable advices
I was able to install PVR IPTV Simple Client.
I went to 'Configuration' Tab but I did not change anything there and just left all defaults.
Sorry Folks but I'm still stuck Smile
I mean that my goal is to watch some TV channels but likely I'm still missing something because it does not stream anything.
Could someone please point me what is the next step or how to configure PVR IPTV Simple Client in order to stream TV?
Thanks again ..
Well since I was able to install PVR IPTV Simple Client but now can’t use it I think that I will close this thread and open another one with request to help to use the Client.
Thanks for help

If that´s the case and you don´t need any software beside Kodi (and its add-ons) on that RPi, I would generally suggest to give LibreELEC a shot: https://libreelec.tv/downloads/

The current stable version of LibreELEC for the RPi (version 8.2.5) provides Kodi 17.6 as default and you generally don´t need any Linux knowledge to update to a newer version if it´s released.

I wouldn´t recommend to use Kodi 17.3 and you need to update anyway at some time after Kodi 18 will be released. That (the update/upgrade) will be much easier for non-Linux-users while using LibreELEC (simply copying a file to a specific location on the system and reboot).

Just my 2 cents, no offense Wink
Thanks
Now I have to decide either upgrade to Stretch and then for 17.6 or change OS for Libre...
What would you suggest?
Although I am not sure that 17.6 will resolve my addon problems
Your recommendations?
Appreciate it
