Full Version: Import of only half of my music

Hi Everybody,

This is my first post, so thanks you in advance for your help!
And thanks to the devs of Kodi, it is a nice work.

I am currently using Kodi v17 on two raspberrypi3 (OpenElec on one side and OSMC on the other).
No problem for starting, configuration, etc...

On my first setup, I put all my music on a NAS folder (NFS) and access it by Ethernet.
On my second setup, I put all my music on a hard drive linked by USB to my rapsberrypi3.

On both case, I can see all my music by navigating in Kodi using the folder section. All my music was ripped by me in .flac

However, when I make an import of my music, I see only half of them.
I tried modifying the tags using MusicBrainZ Picard. Some of the files updated by Picard are perfectly visible, but other are invisible.
I checked the names of the file, be there or not some special characters, no change.
I changed the name of the file in Picard, no change.
Of course, I updated the music library after each modification of my test files.

Does anybody have any idea of what could be wrong? I am searching this issue since 3 months now and well, nothing: it is quite frustrating.
I can provide screenshot. If some logs are needed, please tell me how to get it.

Thanks you all in advance.

Saru
FYI, OpenELEC hasn't been maintained for over a year, and lacks critical updates for a.o. scraping metadata.
We suggest you cross over to LibreELEC.
OSMC is uptodate developing-wise, and should scrape things correctly.
Do make sure to have your scraper addons fully updated.
We did have some hiccups in movie/tvshow scraping, I'm not aware of any music scraping problems.
Hello @Saru

There could be a few causes for your issue, but lets start with the easiest one first, then move onto others if it does not work.

Kodi reads music files Tags to create the Library entries. You cannot scrape albums and artists without tags. If you are not seeing music in the library, then there is something wrong with your tags. You say that you have updated tags with MusicBrainz Picard, so it should work but once Kodi has scanned a file for tags, it won't scan the same file again in v17. So you have to force a re-scan as follows...

1. Pick an album that is not in the library and move it out of the Source so that Kodi cannot see it
2. Run a Clean Library. Make sure it is the Music Clean library... https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Li...ic_Library
3. Enable Debug Mode in Settings>System Settings>Logging
4. Exit Kodi
5. Move the album back into the Source
6. Start Kodi and scan the album into the library... https://kodi.wiki/view/Update_Music_Libr...an_Library

Does the album show up in the library now?

If it does not show up, then submit the debug log. Use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ or similar

Also open a song from that album in MusicBrainz Picard so you can see all the tags. Take a screenshot and post it here. Make sure we can see all the tags. Similar to the image shown here... https://kodi.wiki/view/Music_tagging#MusicBrainz
Hi, both of you

First, I cannot do any test on my OSMC (used somewhere else), so all will be done on my other raspberrypi3
I updated to LibreElec and I now have Kodi v17.6.
I followed your process, Karellen, and have the same issue.
I currently only have 5 files on my music library: 1 witness and 4 problematic ones.

Here is a screenshot of Picard for the correctly recognized one: https://imgur.com/a/jqptHDf
Here is a screenshot of Picard for a not recognized song: https://imgur.com/RvJDNJV
I voluntarily erased most of the taggs to see if it could be a mismatch between tagID and music name. No luck.

Here is a screenshot of how kodi see the test folder:  https://imgur.com/3ZnhxAV
It looks like it does only recognize my witness file and not the other ones as music.

Here is the log from the update: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/DpqGS6C4hK/
Following this, I removed all my add-ons and redo the cleaning of my library. No change.
The log for this part is here (check especially 16.41.48.455): https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/srsRq8HCGQ/
It looks like a tag problem but I don't understand why for one it does find the music's name and not for the others...
Sorry, but I am not following your process. I can see the following problems though...

1. Tags- limited tagging which can lead to multiple errors
2. From the limited info I have, it looks like you have all your songs in one folder. We recommend using Artist>Album>Song folder structure

Could you follow this guide to set up your Music Library... https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Create_Music_Library

It is strongly recommended that you fully tag your music files as shown in the image I linked to previously.
Hi,

I eventually solved my problem.
I had correctly tagged my music, as I had some trouble with some limited tagged music as well as some music completely tagged with Picard.
The problem was coming from the encoding.
When i did my scrapping, I used two differents softwares which didn't scrap the music in flac identically. I found it by opening the files with MP3Tag and comparing the flac library used for encoding (written in commentary tag).
I solved the problem by converting from flac to flac with MediaMonkey the problematics files. Everything is fine now!
Thanks for your help, holping this will help others.
Best regards,

Saru
