I run Kodi on Lubuntu. Music is ripped to FLAC format.
Recently I wanted to copy my music archive to a microSDXC card as part of an archive/portability between devices and machines.
Where I am (logged in and plugged in) is where my music is.
Fine, except that to get the SDXC readable on all the systems (Android, Windows, Linux) and ages of equipment (upto 9 years) I had to format it FAT.
There are some characters permitted in filenames when Kodi rips music that are not valid on FAT.
Colon [:] and double quote ["] being the two that keep turning up.
Usually in descriptions (Introduction: and Theme from "<name>" being cases in point), or if you have left a space at the end of the filename.
Having to check all the filenames in a music archive is an interesting way to pass the time, but at least I've only had to do it once.
The fun is in the error messages.
LXDE PCManFM does not say 'Invalid Filename', it says 'There is already a file with the same name' but has the Rename File button greyed out, so you can't; you can only skip or cancel.
7-Zip on Wine just ignores you and does not perform the copy operation.
Today has been an interesting learning curve.
