Full Version: AC3-Codec not supported Use passthrough

Hello to all !
I am using a kodi device connected to the TV via HDMI.

ALL video sound formats play OK when watching online videos.

When playing Videos from USB stick, AC-3 format does not play with error "Codec not supported Use passthrough"

I had a patch that when installed it, AC3 was perfect. But during a factory fresh install, I lost it and I can't find it anymore.

This patch was offered free of charge by user VEKIA of COOD-E but the links he had given are not working anymore.

Since Cood-e forum does not accept new registrations, does anyone knows of the patch download link or even VEKIA's contact info ?

The VEKIA's profile with the dead links is as follows: http://cood-e.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1640

Many thanks
I have the same problem.

I have a COOD E mediaplayer. It runs Kodi on Android.
The (build-in) Kodi audio settings don't work. My TV can't handle pass through, it needs to be decoded/downmixed through Kodi. With pass through off I get the notification 'Codec not supported, use pass through' and no sound. With pass through on, there is no notification, but also no sound. (And I've tried the settings in many different ways, still no sound.)

It's a real hassle trying to use a mediaplayer which doesn't play the sound on half of the files.

I/We really need whatever is was Vekia offered a few years ago.
From what I've gathered on the internet is was some kind of plug in that downmixed DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD, to stereo I guess.
Does someone know where to find that old plug in/add on? Or has someone developed something similar?
Did TS find something workable?

Thanks.
You don't run our software but a cripled, renamed one from those you gave the money to. Nothing we can do.

So COOD-E is not 'supported' by Kodi (or vv)?
How come it gets sold with Kodi?

I do think someone should be able to help. Like mentioned, Vekia on that other forum had a solution, so if one can do it, more can do it.
Thanks anyway.
Kodi is opensource software. We are in no way linked to COOD-E or Vekia - whoever that is. They seem to have preinstalled a criped kodi version.

Why not installing original kodi from Appstore?
Here: http://cood-e.com/forum/index.php?topic=46.15 - they rebranded kodi and removed AC3 / DTS / etc. decoding support from it
The COOD-E is a mediaplayer: http://www.cood-e.com/products/cood-e-tv.html which runs Kodi.

And that's exactly where Vekia is mentioned and his/her solution, but the thread and forum are old and the links are dead.
So I was hoping someone still had it and could share it. Or had another fix.
We are kind of aware what that seems to be, but:

- they rebranded Kodi
- they sold it
so...they should support it.
We can't do anything against if they do link to our wiki. But it's still the fact that they don't ship an official version of our software.

You have 2 options now. Ask for support at their forums or install Kodi from the Google PlayStore. We do not know anything about that code and what they have changed. So even if we want to, we can't help for given reasons. Unfortunately

Further more, if I look at their forums and see posts of 2016, I don't think they updated that version they ship. The Kodi version which was released in 2016 was "Jarvis" and is currently way too outdated to support anyway. So I would really suggest to use something else if they don't give any kind of support.
Thank you for explaining. And now knowing it is probably a modified version of Jarvis, helps somewhat.
Thanks.
I found it!
In case someone else is looking, I found it on this site:
https://blog.son-video.com/en/2015/10/re...with-kodi/
about half way, there is a link to a zipfile 'Dolby and DTS filter file in zip format' and that's exactly what I needed to fix this.
