Full Version: Passthrough problems with DTS-HD HRA

hi,

I just noticed I can't playback DTS-HD HRA while DTS-HD MA does work without any problems. After playing with the settings I found out that if I change the Audio output configuration from Best match to fixed, I can atleast hear something.

Here's a log of best-match playing a DTS-HD MA and then a DTS-HD HRA file:

Here's a log of fixed playing a DTS-HD MA and then a DTS-HD HRA file:
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dR2yHx9hP2/

Can someone explain me the logs? What is happening?

Hardware: Denon X3400H, Samsung Q7F, Nvidia Shield

There are known issues with some models of AVR and DTS-HRA flagging. Denons in particular are infamous in this regard.

Apparently the way Kodi on some platforms flags HD Audio isn't always 100% standard - and Denons are particularly demanding when it comes to DTS-HRA.  This hasn't been a major issue as DTS-HRA wasn't a widespread standard - but it is now as DTS:X tracks are using DTS-HRA for secondary languages AIUI...
Okay, so I'm doomed again and have to hope for Kodi to fix this or Denon to become less demanding? Is this still an issue with Leia?
I assume that when I set my settings to "fixed" I'm getting PCM?
No one from us is currently working on this. Either decode to PCM or disable DTS-HD to get DTS core. If someone of you has time to fix -> go ahead. For us this is the lowest priority with all the other outstanding bugs.
haha I would love to, but I don't even know where to look into. My development skills lie within business languages like ABAP Big Grin Thanks for your contributions I have a lot of respect for you guys, this really is a minor bug.
Use VLC for Android that can do it perfectly.

 ha ha ha
I bought a new Denon system, and I found the same problem with my Kodi in the Nvidia Shield.
Can't pass DTS-HD HRA

I've installed and played the same file with VLC and Denon can receive the correct audio.

I'm not an expert but seems that VLC can send it in a way that Denon can identify.

Regards,
You don't what version of Kodi you are using, this matters because some people may have issues with v17 Krypton however these should now be fixed in v18 Leia.
I just installed the beta from Google Play and I've done the same test and it works well

Thank you.
