Full Version: File plays video normally but no audio

This is the first time I've experienced this in Kodi / XBMC and I was hoping to resolve it.

Problem: file which plays normally in VLC plays in Kodi BUT WITH NO AUDIO.

In VLC, the stream is listed as A52 (aka AC3) / mono / 48000 / 192 kb/s

In Kodi when the file is playing, the 'audio and subtitle settings' lists the stream as:
Unknown - AC3 Mono (1/1) and is greyed out, but this isn't listed if hovering over the 'settings' icon while the file is playing (normally the stream is something like 'english' and is in blue.

Any suggestions ?
To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file.

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Always use a paste site like pastebin.com. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum
Pardon my very late response. I tried to resolve the issue but failed. Here is the pastebin for my log

Note: my issue is that all video sources with 1.0 mono audio are WITHOUT SOUND in Kodi. In VLC, they do have sound. I note that my audio settings are set to 2.0. When I shift to 5.1 (though still only using 2 physical speakers on a stereo output) I note that I DO get sound from these files. This suggests there is a problem decoding mono to 2.0 in Kodi for my setup.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
The forum moderators have determined that banned addons (wiki) are present on your system. To receive assistance here, these banned items must be removed. If a clean log is not submitted within 3 days, then the relevant post(s) will be removed after this time.
Hey--no problem. Haven't used / looked at that the streaming apps for a year. A good opportunity to clean up what I don't use.

Let me know if I have any other illicit apps going on.

Exodus is probably one of the first ever Kodi banned addons, and who knows what other additional background dependencies are still active. I don't know/recognize them all from the top of my head.

Just start a clean setup now. You don't want your Kodi devce get turned into a malware machine.
thanks. I have removed the apps that I think were raising flags and have run the debug again. If I have missed any, I'd be happy to try again.

Here is the post cleanup log: https://pastebin.com/wfp53N23
Upgrade to version 18 - 17.0 itself is not supported anymore. Fixes are not done to v17 series anymore as 18 is already in beta.

You still have all of the above installed, so please try again. If you need support in cleaning up your system we can try to assist.

All of these need to go before there is any support offered here, as we refuse to deal with any system compromised with such malware.
Solved. No updates required. Just turning off audio dsp in audio settings (main settings menu) solved it.
